Sue Regis, Joliet artist, has returned to her Downtown Joliet gallery after a three-year hiatus.
Regis, known for her glass blown memorial pieces, announced her re-emergence to her art on Facebook.
Regis works out of Waywards Art Haus in Downtown Joliet, operated by her friend Angelica Cristal.
Regis has been open about her battle with breast cancer, and recently opened up about the brachial plexus injury that caused her break.
According to the Boston Children’s Hospital, the brachial plexus is a network of nerves that sends signals to the chest, shoulder, arm, and hand from the spinal cord.
A brachial plexus injury can be caused by either the nerves being stretched, torn but still attached to the spine, or torn completely from the root.
Regis now relies on a spinal cord simulator, a device that blocks the brain from receiving pain signals from the spinal cord.
The majority of Regis’ work are custom pieces to memorialize humans and pets, and can be infused with cremains. She also sells her art at local events in Joliet.
Regis can be contacted via her Facebook page, Remembrance in the Flame for business inquiries.
